Miss Ali

Ali Fox was born in Penticton B.C.and has had a rich and exciting career as a professional dancer. She fell in love with dance when she put on her first pair of tap shoes at age four. Under the instruction of Cheryl Blumke at Okanagan Dance Studio Ali also studied ballet at Penticton School of Dance with Lorna Bull and Michael Meakin. She has performed all across British Columbia and California and is trained in many disciplines of dance which include; jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, contemporary and hip hop.  She has extensive ballet training through the Royal Academy of Dance and completed her Al Gilbert and Adapt  exams in jazz and tap. She also has classical training in voice with instructors Helga Tucker and Ellen Churchill . Competitively, Ali has won numerous awards and medallions for singing and dancing, especially noted were her choreography and musicality.  

After graduation, she was crowned Miss Penticton and travelled throughout Canada, United States and Japan representing Penticton and the Okanagan. After her reign as Miss Penticton  she danced professionally for Norwegian Cruise Lines and in 2006 she decided to pursue Business Management at OUC in Kelowna ,BC.

Ali moved to Calgary in 2009 and started teaching and managing studios in the Calgary Area as well as dance professionally for both the Calgary Stampeder Outriders and Calgary Roughnecks Drill Crew. Ali is ready to pursue the next chapter of her career with Fox Dance Company and is excited to share her experience and training with her students and faculty. 

Miss Jackie

With years of extensive classical training in ADAPT jazz & tap, RAD ballet, hiphop, jazz funk, musical theatre/vocal, lyrical and contemporary, Miss Jackie brings her fresh style and flair to the team at Fox Dance Company. Miss Jackie is an alumna of The Young Canadians School of Performing Arts where she spent seven years performing for audiences up to twenty thousand under the direction of Canada’s most renowned dance director/choreographer Brian Foley. It was with the Young Canadians that she discovered her passion for choreographing at the age of 14, where she successfully auditioned her student choreographed pieces to be chosen for The Young Canadians’ “Spring Show” productions for three consecutive years.

With a decade of choreography experience, and over seven years of professional in-class instruction, Miss Jackie has developed a strong passion to educate and teach dancers of all ages and abilities. She has achieved multiple choreography awards at Millenium Dance Competition, Peak Invitational Dance Competition, Shyann Dance Productions, Danceworks, and “Top Choreography Award” for Artists Elite Intl.’s “Fearless Dance Challenge,” and is the 2010 recipient of the Enbridge “Citizens of Tomorrow Award.”

Some of Miss Jackie’s performance accomplishments include AMC’s Hell on Wheels television series, the Calgary Stampede Grandstand Show, Gemini Awards show, ONE LOVE hiphop music festival headlining Tyler the Creator & A$ap Ferg, World Skills Calgary Opening and Closing Ceremonies,  the Labour Day Classic Half-Time Show, the “Seasons of Wonder” presented by the Downtown Calgary Association, ONE Magic of World Dance, the opening ceremonies for the Alberta Special Winter Olympics, six seasons of productions and corporate appearances performing and choreographing for Artists Elite Intl., and a special production for HRH Queen Elizabeth II in celebration of Alberta’s Centennial. Miss Jackie continues to train in various styles of dance, and believes a dancer can never stop improving and developing their skills. Whenever possible, Miss Jackie travels and continues her training at the EDGE Performing Arts Centre (LA), IDA (LA), Millennium Dance Complex (LA), DJD (Calgary), and Alberta Ballet.

As a dance instructor for Fox Dance Company, Miss Jackie provides professional and challenging technique and demanding choreography. She strives to push students’ limits and inspire them to succeed as strong dancers, team players and confidence performers.

Miss Amanda

Miss Amanda has worked at Fox since their doors opened in July of 2015. She has performed and tried many disciplines through-out the years of her training including: Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Modern, Contemporary, African, Bollywood and Breakdance. Even though Miss Amanda loves all styles of dance, she is known best for her heightened amount of training, passion, and devotion for Hip Hop and Street Styles.

She has been successfully involved in Calgary’s dance competition community since 2010, competing numerous routines and achieving platinum’s, outstanding and judges choice awards. She has also received “Top Choreography” award in 2013 for Artists Elite International’s “Fearless Dance Challenge”, as well as receiving the “Best Stage Presence” and “Best Studio Spirit” award. Her other accomplishments include winning “Best Choreographer” in 2016,17, 18, 19 & 21 for Kick It Up Dance Competition, the View Dance Challenge, Milennium Competition, Danceworks Competition, Just Dance Challenge, Summit Dance Challenge, Fabulous Feet Competition, Evolve Dance, and Gravity Dance Competition. She puts her heart & soul into each one of her routines and her dedication shines through when her students light up the stage.

Miss Amanda has over 11 years of skillful classroom involvement as an instructor of all ages, and over 17 years of in studio training. Miss Amanda also coached and performed in many shows around Calgary and surrounding areas including Calaway Park, the Calgary Stampede Parade, Haysboro parade, Spruce Meadows Christmas Market, Festival of Lights, World Partnership Walk for Cancer, One – Colors of the World, Disneyland & Universal Studios Hollywood, and her favorite – the 2009 Grey Cup pregame show. Miss Amanda has also taken classes in New York, Toronto, Vancouver and LA, her favorites being Milennium Dance Complex and IDA Hollywood.

She desires her students to aim for their personal best performance on and off the stage and is eager to work with students of all talents and capabilities. She is extremely passionate about teaching students the history, origins, and foundations of hip hop so students understand and appreciate the different sub genres they are learning. She is the studios personal cheerleader. You’ll always know she’s at a dance competition by the loud cheering backstage.

Miss Amanda enjoys being a student as much as she loves teaching others. She is also a member of Calgary’s IllFX Education Dance Program, training weekly in an advanced Hip Hop Crew and still competes in Hip Hop herself. She believes she can never stop flourishing her artistry with dance and will maintain and continue her hip hop training for years to come.

Academically speaking, Miss Amanda graduated with honors from Bow Valley College in 2014 with certification in Veterinary Assistance. When she isn’t instructing or dancing, she works as a Technician Assistant, lending a helping hand in surgeries, taking blood, putting in IV catheters and much more. Miss Amanda is extremely eager to inspire and motivate her talented students!

Miss Brittany

Miss Brittany trained and competed in gymnastics starting at the age of 3 and transitioned into dance later where she trained and competed in all styles with a special love for acro. Along with competing, Brittany has trained with The Young Canadians of the Calgary Stampede where she performed for over 20,000 people in the Calgary Stampede Grandstand Show. Some of Brittany’s other performance highlights include The ONE LOVE Hip-Hop Music Festival Headlining A$AP Ferg, Tyler the Creator and Earl Sweatshirt, The Young Canadians Christmas Spectacular, Disneyland California Adventure Park and being a dancer on the Calgary Roughnecks Drill Crew for 3 years.

Academically, she is currently finishing a Bachelor of Health and Physical Education with a major in Physical Literacy, as well as a CSEP Personal Fitness Trainer Diploma at Mount Royal University and is set to graduate at the end of 2021. Miss Brittany is always looking to learn and grow as an educator, and is currently certified in Acrobatic Arts, Alixa Flexibility, International Dance Teaching Standards, Mental Skills Training, and is an NCCP Certified Coach. She is passionate about teaching safe dance practice and using her knowledge of anatomy, and appropriate strength and flexibility training principles to improve technique. She strives to instill a strong technical foundation in her students as well as responsibility, confidence, perseverance, and teamwork skills. Miss Brittany is extremely excited to continue to be a part of the Fox Dance Company teaching team for the 7th year and share her knowledge and passion for dance with her students!

Miss Laura

Laura began her dance training when she was five talking ballet, tap and highland dance. After achieving numerous awards in highland including winning gold in the Flora at the Canadian National Championships in 2003 she started training intensively in classical ballet. In 2004 Laura was accepted into the prestigious Professional Division at The School of Alberta Ballet. While in this program she trained extensively in classical ballet, character, modern, lyrical, tap, jazz, contemporary and musical theatre. Laura has also had experience in ballroom styles from traditional to Latin. Over her five-plus years within this program, Laura trained with some of the biggest names in dance including Veronica Tennant, a Canadian producer, director, filmmaker and Prima Ballerina, National Ballet of Canada. Laura achieved the highest level and certification in the Cecchetti dance syllabus. Laura has also had the opportunity to attend summer intensives all over Canada and the United States including Winnipeg and Boston.

After a serious injury, Laura was forced to rethink her dance career and began teaching at studios and community programs across Calgary. Laura has been an active member in the dance community in Calgary since 2007 and aims to share her love of classical ballet, modern and contemporary with her students. With eight years of teaching, Laura’s unique style will inspire her students to enjoy the most technical forms of dance.

Laura has won numerous awards for her choreography and has won a divisional title at Rhythms Dance Competition three years in a row. Laura aims to teach responsibility and life skills while showing her students the joys of dance. Professionally Laura is a behavioral support worker for the Calgary Catholic School District and has a BA in Criminology. She is also working toward a double degree in education and counseling.

Laura’s energy, experience, and knowledge will help her students to achieve great things and grow their love of dance!

Miss Kaitlyn

Miss Kaitlyn has been dancing since she was just 7 years old, training intensively in a variety of dance styles including ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, acro, lyrical, contemporary, and pointe. She found her passion and love for the art early in her dance years and ever since has been highly motivated and determined to push herself to discover her true potential. Miss Kaitlyn was also involved in gymnastics and competitive cheerleading which sparked her drive for success.

Miss Kaitlyn has been competing in and around Calgary at multiple dance competitions for the past few years, receiving an array of awards for her work, such as overall top score, most outstanding dancer, most promising, adjudicator’s choice, and the love of dance award. Miss Kaitlyn also attends workshops and conventions in Alberta whenever possible for the pure exposure and experience of other dancers, teachers, and choreographers. She has had the opportunity to take part in breakdance, aerial skills, and Broadway classes by professional choreographers. She has also performed in Disneyland and Universal Studios, “ONE – A Dance Spectacle” charity event, the Spruce Meadows International Christmas Market, Calgary Stampede Parade, and at the Lilac Festival. Miss Kaitlyn is the recipient of the Jamie Hill and Tammy-Lynn Powers scholarship, as well as the View Dance Convention Ballet “choreographer’s pick” scholarship.

For the past two years, Miss Kaitlyn has been a professional entertainer at Calaway Park, where she is a part of the “Calaway Live” dancers who present the stage shows at the park during the season. She is also a dancer on the Mount Royal University Dance Team, where she is given the opportunity to perform and promote the team at school related events. Miss Kaitlyn is currently a company member of En Corps Dance Collective, in which she continues her technical training. Right now, Miss Kaitlyn also trains under iLLFX Education, an urban hip hop company where she is able to challenge her dance abilities and continue her growth in the evolving dance form.

Miss Kaitlyn is a student at Mount Royal University, studying a Bachelor of Health Sciences. She hopes to further her education in the field of mathematics, pursing one of her biggest passions.

For the past 5 years, Miss Kaitlyn has been student teaching and assisting her dance teachers. She has developed a strong love and enthusiasm for teaching children and is extremely excited to begin her teaching journey. Miss Kaitlyn believes the key to growing a supportive and encouraging environment for students is to provide challenging, but also fun and creative dance education. Miss Kaitlyn takes pride in her bubbly and cheerful personality that she knows will bring enjoyment to her classes.
